件名: post-doc Lamont position

Hi Ken:
Hope all is well.
We will be hiring a post-doc from Lamont for a project to conduct physical
experiments at the Saint Anthony Falls laboratory to better understand the
effects of submarine earthquakes in the sedimentation record. It is
multidisciplinary post-doc involving tectonics, sedimentation and fluid
mechanics.
If you know of anyone interested, please let them know.
Thanks
Cecilia

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) of Columbia University located in
Palisades, New York, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist
position with expertise at the intersection of seismo-tectonics and subaqueous
sedimentary processes. The position will support an NSF funded project to
understand sediment mobilization stimulated by permanent deformation and
shaking near large submarine earthquake ruptures. Responsibilities includes:
1) using of existing data on sediments and geophysics and their seismo-tectonic
settings; 2) design, carry out, and analyze physical experiments where sediments
are mobilized by mimicking earthquake motions, developing a quantitative
approach in analyzing and interpreting results; 3) lead peer-reviewed journal
articles, present results at conferences, and develop collaborations including
international ones. The postdoc will be based at LDEO in the research group of
Professors Cecilia McHugh and Leonardo Seeber. The postdoc will also spend time
with Professor Chris Paola at the Saint Anthony Falls laboratory of the University
of Minnesota.

Candidates should have completed or be nearing completion of a PhD having a
quantitative background and expertise on tectonics and subaqueous sedimentology.
Research background on subduction boundaries is preferred but not required.

Proposed start date is February 1st 2022, with some flexibility. Appointment will
be initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to two years,
subject to satisfactory performance.
